Change management for PMO
The PMO (Project Management Office) of an Industrial Plant is often responsible for managing project maintenance and upgrade activities. I was appointed by one such client to review and update their project management procedures.
My approach was to work closely with the PMO staff to develop a framework for managing the various types of projects in their department. As part of this intervention: a gap analysis was conducted to check for alignment with the company head office standards, as well as with global project management best practices.
As a result of an intensive, collaborative process with their team, and based on the results of the gap analysis, a change management initiative was implemented that provided improved procedures and documents. A fully integrated system of documents is now in place that supports efficient project management processes in the plant. This provides a backbone for the PMO to deliver successful projects with appropriate project governance and improved stakeholder satisfaction.
